How to Download Iphoto on Mac 10.6.8 Updated

How to Download Iphoto on Mac 10.6.8

Hello !

- Bought iPhoto on the Mac App Store a few months ago
- Did a make clean install of 10.6.viii today.
- Tried to install newest iPhoto version. --> This failed, because the latest iPhoto needs at least ten.7.4

How practise I get a working version of iPhoto for 10.half dozen.viii ?

No, I don't have a backup of my application folder. (Because the Mac App Store clearly states, that "apps tin can be re-downloaded at any time without additional costs")
No, I don't accept any other Macs with an older iPhoto version.
No, updating to Lion is not an option for me.

Thanks,
Michael

If your Mac shipped with Snow Leopard, iLife should be available on the Applications Install disc that came with the Mac. In-box discs are machine-specific and are grayness in color.

Alternatively, practice you have a friend with a Mac with Lion that you could log into the App Store under your account, download iPhoto, and re-create information technology over to your Snow Leopard Mac? I assume that would piece of work, since you'd be downloading it in your name and transferring it, kind of similar how transferring purchases used to work in iTunes.

Promise that helps! Adept luck!

My Mac Pro shipped with Tiger.

Fifty-fifty if I could get my easily on the new version of iPhoto (v9.3): It would not work with 10.half-dozen.8. The system requirements conspicuously state that information technology needs 10.7.4.

The old version (v9.2.three) that worked on Snow Leopard, is not available anymore and the Mac App Shop Support is not able (or willing) to provide me with that particular version.

Wow, I'm stumped. Afterward reviewing Apple's site, it seems you are correct. I'm kind of surprised that Apple won't give you the version compatible with your organization. It gets really frustrating especially since Apple will release updates cut off compatibility with older systems (i.e., iWork '09 was initially compatible with PPC and Tiger/Leopard, merely only in the pre 9.ane updates). Information technology can get extremely confusing. It doesn't seem fair that y'all bought it when it was compatible with Snow Leopard and now the merely reason you can't access it is because they decided cut you lot off with an update. 9.ii.3 was released in March of this year, less than three months ago, and 9.3 was only final week!

Only then again, Apple isn't exactly addicted of supporting "legacy" systems.

The simply solution I can think of, which isn't a very skillful solution, is to go a retail disc of iLife 'xi and update manually to 9.2.iii.

Sorry, wish I could help more. :(

An alternative way for you to get iPhoto nine.2.3 is to download the updater. The updater is the full app but does require a previous eligible version to exist installed. To get effectually this, use Pacifist to install it.

Annotation for hereafter: always keep a backup!

I followed up with the Mac App Store Support.
They answered again with the same info: "Unfortunately, the version offered in the Mac App Shop will require Lion, which you lot will need to redownload in club to take the apps office properly. Your apps will but piece of work for ten.7.four or subsequently. Again, the Mac App Store does non offer older versions of the iLife apps." (or whatsoever other apps)
They and so recommended to contact AppleCare.

I simply got off the phone with the german language AppleCare Eye.
In curt, they we're stumped ("It'south the first fourth dimension we hear nigh this"), they apologized and they volition transport me an iLife '11 DVD for free. (I also was non charged for the "support incident".)

(As all of you probably know: The iLife 11 DVD contains Snow Leopard-compatible versions of iPhoto and iMovie, which I can manually update to the latest Snowfall Leopard-compatible version by downloading the updaters from Apple'due south Support section.)

Thanks for all your advice and I hope this info volition assistance all other people who run across the same problem.

The lesson I accept learned:
"Apps can exist re-downloaded at any times without additional costs."
NOT True. Go on BACKUPS OF YOUR APPLICATION FOLDER !

Yay! I'grand glad they were able to help yous! I had a similar trouble when iLife '08 came out and they ship me a DVD for it (or was it a CD dorsum and then?).

I guess what the App Store said wasn't technically incorrect - you lot tin redownload apps, assuming you system works with the latest version. That beingness said, though, making your own backups ensures y'all accept control over whether or not you have access to the application. Who knows? Apple tree could but make iPhoto disappear at any time (though that'southward unlikely).

dZp, thank you for the Pacifist link. I had never heard of that! That might come in handy some day down the route.

Fifty-fifty if I could get my hands on the new version of iPhoto (v9.three): Information technology would not work with 10.6.8. The system requirements clearly state that it needs 10.seven.4.

The sometime version (v9.2.iii) that worked on Snowfall Leopard, is non bachelor anymore and the Mac App Store Support is non able (or willing) to provide me with that particular version.

Clone your hard drive.

Update it to what you lot want.

Then hand transfer?

Two bug with that link -
The link to that update was already provided above in post #8.
Downloading the update is non helpful if the prerequisite of iPhoto nine.1 is not already installed.

If the OP (from more than three years ago) has not moved on still, and did non have a backed upwardly installer for iLife '11, so the updater does no good at all.

1:The previous link did no proficient for me, it was a bad link.
2:I did not have whatsoever iphoto installed and this installed fine.
iii:I was not posting for the OP, i was posting for anyone like me who has x.vi.8 and needs ilife.

Has anyone establish a reliable source to download from?

Proposition:

Search out and download from an UN-authorized source.

Sometimes 1 must do, what i must do.

That is all...[/QUOTE
